Based on the autobiography of American journalist Jeannette Walls, The Glass Castle tells the story of the author's nomadic and troubled childhood.
The second of four siblings, Jeannette (Brie Larson) grows up with an immature mother (Naomi Watts), more focused on painting landscapes than on her children's needs, and a loving father who, however, embarks on hare-brained schemes and seeks refuge in alcohol.
The imaginary glass castle, which he promises to build for the girls one day, becomes a symbol of failures and broken promises, but also of flashes of madness and imagination.
