Juan Miranda, a Mexican outlaw, teams up with John Mallory, an Irish explosives expert, with the intention of robbing a bank. After taking part in the conquest of the Mexican town of Mesa Verde, against the troops of government Colonel Gunther Resa – a ruthless butcher of men – Juan discovers that Resa, having escaped, had his five children killed along with other rebels who had taken refuge in the mountains. During a desperate sortie against the regulars, Miranda is captured, but John saves him from execution at the last moment. Although considered a hero, Miranda has not embraced the revolution. Together with John, he secretly boards a train carrying the hated Governor. The train is attacked by the rebels, and once again, Juan and John find themselves fighting alongside them. After the Governor is killed, Miranda fights alongside his friend against Gunther Resa's soldiers, finally committing to the revolutionary cause.
