The Fabelmans
Directed by Steven Spielberg, THE FABELMANS is written by Spielberg himself and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner, a longtime collaborator of the director and Oscar nominee for his screenplays for Lincoln and Munich. The film tells the story of sixteen-year-old Sammy Fabelman who, growing up in post-World War II Arizona, discovers the magic and redemptive power of cinema. The Fabelmans is produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger (West Side Story, The Post), Steven Spielberg, Tony Kushner, Carla Raij, and Josh McLaglen. The role of young aspiring filmmaker Sammy Fabelman is played by Gabriel LaBelle (The Predator, American Gigolo the series); his mother Mitzi is Michelle Williams (4-time Oscar nominee), his father Burt is Paul Dano, and Seth Rogen plays Bennie Loewy, Burt's best friend and the children's 'honorary uncle,' while Oscar nominee Judd Hirsch is Boris, the mother's uncle. The music is by John Williams, a five-time Oscar winner; costumes are by Mark Bridges, and the production designer is Rick Carter, a two-time Oscar winner. Editing is by Michael Kahn ACE and Sarah Broshar, a three-time Oscar winner. The film's cinematographer is Janusz Kaminski, a two-time Oscar winner.
