The story is inspired by the bloody riots that shook Detroit in 1967. In the city's streets, a veritable massacre was perpetrated by the police, in which three African Americans lost their lives and hundreds were seriously injured. The subsequent unrest led to unprecedented disorder, thereby forcing a reckoning with what had transpired on that shameful day fifty years prior.
