In “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” Hassan Kadam (Manish Dayal) plays a culinary genius who never misses a beat. The Kadam family, having emigrated from India and led by patriarch Papa (Om Puri), settles in the picturesque village of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, in the south of France. A charming and refined place, it's the ideal spot to open Maison Mumbai, a family-run Indian restaurant. But things take a turn when Madame Mallory (Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren), the frosty owner and chef of the renowned French restaurant Le Saule Pleureur, interferes. Her relentless protests against the new Indian restaurant, located just 30 meters from her own, ignite a fierce rivalry between the two establishments. This continues until Hassan's passion for haute cuisine and for Marguerite (Charlotte Le Bon), Madame Mallory's delightful sous chef, magically blends the two cultures, bringing new flavors of food and life to Saint-Antonin that even Madame Mallory cannot ignore. Indeed, she will eventually recognize her rival's culinary talent and take him under her wing.
