Quentin Tarantino, Kurt Russell, and Michael Madsen, the director and actors of The Hateful Eight, along with maestro Ennio Morricone, the film's composer, premiered the two-time Oscar-winning director's latest work in Rome. The event took place at Cinecittà's legendary Studio 5, famously Fellini's soundstage. For the occasion, the studio was transformed into a cinema hall featuring a massive 21x8 meter screen. The film was shown in its full, 70mm format, exactly as it was conceived and made, to highlight the definition and spectacular nature of the visuals. The set design was equally spectacular, inspired by iconic Western locations and completely covered in snow. The premiere hosted 888 guests, a number deliberately chosen by Tarantino himself, as there are eight main characters in the film, and The Hateful Eight is his eighth feature.
