Sergio Leone made the cinematic storytelling of myths like the West or America legendary. After more than half a century, he himself has become a myth: "Once Upon a Time Sergio Leone," paraphrasing the titles of his famous films, is the name of the major exhibition dedicated to him. It will be hosted at the Ara Pacis from December 17, 2019, to May 3, 2020, arriving in Rome after its success at the Cinémathèque Française in Paris. Proposed by the Cineteca di Bologna, and produced and curated in collaboration with the Cinémathèque Française and Istituto Luce Cinecittà, the exhibition is multisensory: it is conceived as a journey through the artist's universe to explore the making of his cult films, as well as the man himself and his background. It will also include a retrospective and the publication of the volume 'The Sergio Leone Revolution', edited by Christopher Frayling and Gian Luca Farinelli, director of the Cineteca di Bologna, who has been working on Leone's cinema and the restoration of his films for years.
